Code of Conduct

Seven principles that define what it means to be part of Ethical Mechanic.

At EthicalMechanic.org, we are building something that only works if everyone involved — car owners, mechanics, shop owners, and mobile mechanics — operates with integrity. These aren’t suggestions. They’re the foundation of this platform.

§ I.

Respect & Inclusion

  • Treat all members with respect, kindness, and empathy
  • Embrace diversity regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other characteristic
  • Be considerate of differing opinions and engage in constructive discussions

Professionalism

  • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor in all interactions
  • No personal attacks, harassment, or discrimination of any kind
  • Avoid behavior that may be perceived as intimidating, threatening, or disruptive

Open Communication

  • Encourage honest communication among all members
  • Provide constructive feedback while being mindful of its impact
  • Engage in discussions thoughtfully and respectfully

Intellectual Property

  • Respect the intellectual property rights of others
  • Give proper credit when referencing content from other sources
  • Do not plagiarize or engage in any form of copyright infringement

Privacy & Confidentiality

  • Respect the privacy of others — do not share personal information without consent
  • Do not disclose confidential information obtained through participation on the platform

Compliance with Laws

  • Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and policies
  • Do not engage in or encourage illegal activities
  • Report suspected violations to the appropriate authorities

Reporting & Enforcement

  • Report any violations of this Code of Conduct to site administrators
  • Administrators reserve the right to warn, suspend, or ban users who violate these principles
  • Users subject to disciplinary actions have the right to appeal respectfully

Terms of Use

§ I. What You’re Getting

A fast, AI-generated snapshot of publicly available information about a mechanic — business registration, online reputation, certifications, and red flags. It’s a screening tool, not a court-admissible verdict. Treat it as one signal among many.

§ II. What the AI Can’t See

We don’t have real-time access to government licensing databases, court records, or sealed BBB complaints. Some businesses keep deliberately thin online footprints. The AI can also misread or miss things. Always verify a mechanic’s credentials directly with your state licensing authority before any major decision.

§ III. Use It Right

This tool is for personal consumer research — you, looking at a mechanic. Don’t use it to harass anyone, defame a business, sabotage a competitor, or scrape reports in bulk. Misuse will get your access cut off.

§ IV. Your Data

We store your email so we can deliver the report and re-send it if needed. Reports are kept for up to seven days, then archived. We don’t sell your data, share it with the mechanic being verified, or hand it to advertisers.

§ V. The Fine Print

Reports are informational. Ethical Mechanic isn’t liable for decisions you make based on what they say. If you spot something inaccurate about a business in a report, email us and we’ll review it.
